SUSTAINABILITY

Better Cotton wants to shape the sustainable future of the cotton sector. They focus on educating cotton farmers about sustainable farming practices. These include using water more efficiently, using less chemicals (pesticides and fertilizers) and improving farmers' living conditions.

Mulesing is a practice only common in Australia. The procedure, in which skin flaps around the buttocks of the sheep are cut with special scissors, is done without painkillers. This is done to prevent a parasitic fly infestation by the so-called "Sheep Blowfly" (Lucilia cuprina). Wool no longer grows on the scarred, wrinkle-free skin and infestation with fly maggots is prevented. Animal welfare organizations denounce this treatment as painful and cruel and so do we.

Drykorn does not use real fur. Leather and lambskin are only used if they are a by-product of the food industry.

69 % of our garments are made in Europe (incl. Turkey), 9 % in North Africa (Tunisia) and 22 % are made in Asia.

We source the majority of our fabrics from well-known European fabric manufacturers. Fabrics from Italy, Portugal, France and Turkey meet both our fashion and quality standards.

Yes. But even if we want to expand our range of organic cotton, we know that real certified organic cotton is rare. Less than 1% of the global supply of cotton is from controlled organic cultivation. That is not enough! Growing cotton requires pesticides, fertilizers and defoliants, all of which harm the environment and farmers' health. To reach more farmers and help them make a positive impact, we are a member of Better Cotton.

No child or forced labor, decent wages, safe working conditions - with our Code of Conduct, we define out our principles, which must be accepted in writing and adhered to without exception by every manufacturer.

A valid social audit is required for each facility. External third party auditors visit the factories, review documents and conduct interviews with workers to verify compliance with the requirements. In addition to the external audits, we also visit the facilities regularly to ensure a transparent and continuous improvement process.

In the interests of environmental protection, electrical appliances must not be disposed of with household waste at the end of their service life. They can be disposed of at appropriate collection points in your country. Follow the local regulations when disposing of electronic and electrical devices. Dispose of the device in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive if you are in the EU. If you have any questions, please contact the local authority responsible for disposal. Take-back points for your old appliances can be obtained from the local municipal or city administration or the local waste disposal companies.
